The Block Party, a project of One Northside in partnership with The Buhl Foundation, was a series of mini arts festivals that called attention to and celebrated the valuable resources and local identities of a number of Pittsburgh’s Northside neighborhoods. The first Block Party was held in spring of 2016, and the project partnered with local social and creative organizations to develop a unique urban experience for each neighborhood. The Block Party’s activities include live performance art, storytelling by neighborhood personalities, story collecting from local residents, hands-on activities, a community public art project, music, food, and a free and open atmosphere for folks of all ages. The ultimate goal of The Block Party is to create opportunities for Northsiders and Pittsburghers alike to connect with each other and find common ground, enjoying the space in which they live and the stories they collectively share. Partners include Saturday Light Brigade, The New Hazlett Theater, Pittsburgh Center for Creative Reuse (PCCR), Flyspace Productions, Artists Image Resource (AIR), Allegheny City Historic Gallery and the Northside Leadership Conference.
