The Block Party, a project of One Northside in partnership with The Buhl Foundation, is a series of mini arts festivals that will call attention to and celebrate the valuable resources and local identities of the eighteen Northside neighborhoods of Pittsburgh. Set to begin with the first Block Party in spring of 2016, the project will partner with local social and creative organizations to develop a unique urban experience for each neighborhood. The Block Party’s activities will include live performance art, storytelling by neighborhood personalities, story collecting from local residents, hands-on activities, a community public art project, music, food, and a free and open atmosphere for folks of all ages. The ultimate goal of The Block Party is to create opportunities for Northsiders and Pittsburghers alike to connect with each other and find common ground, enjoying the space in which they live and the stories they collectively share. Partners include Saturday Light Brigade, The New Hazlett Theater, Pittsburgh Center for Creative Reuse (PCCR), Flyspace Productions, Artists Image Resource (AIR), Allegheny City Historic Gallery and the Northside Leadership Conference.
